For a long time I have wanted to be able to check my bank account online. I have accounts in United Bank for Africa (UBA), Spring Bank (now Enterprise bank), Intercontinental Bank (now Access bank) and GTB. Despite the fact that the account I have in GTB is a current account and those in the other banks are savings accounts, I find GTB's current account less expensive to manage and GTB's customer service way better than all the others put together. So in few words, I actively use my GTB current account and in fact, I hold two Domiciliary accounts and a MasterCard account with GTB.
This past month I went to the GTB nearest to me and filled the Internet Banking form, but to my surprise I didn't receive the promised mail that will provide me my login details. But yesterday I was able in under 20 minutes to enable my accounts (the current, 2 dorms and a mastercard) for internet banking, and the details of how I did it is what I want to share with you.
So I'll be assuming you were like me, desiring to enable internet banking for your GTB account. Just load your phone with enough airtime to make about 20 minutes call, then dial 08029002900 or 08039003900 or 0700GTCONNECT (0700482666328). When your call is picked, you will hear an automated voice prompt telling you to Press 1 to access your account and 2 to register and get login details (I can't remember what the other numeric options are for). You will then press 2 on your phone, and you will be transferred to a customer service agent who will ask you your account number, account name, date of birth, address, last payment and withdrawal details, and mother's maiden name. After that you will be told to get a pen and paper to write down your USER ID, and then you will be transferred to another automated voice prompt to create a password. So now you are good to go, you can call the same phone number to hear your account balance and you can goto GTB's website navigate to the Internet Banking login page and enter your login details to do more than just checking your account balance. From online access, you can transfer funds to other accounts, confirm check, stop check, pay airline fee, print statement of account, view recent transaction details and nearly every other thing besides physical cash collection.
And if a customer service agent named Lara picks your call, please gweet her 4 me! Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHi Vivi, sorry for my late response. Blogging has somewhat become a very expensive luxury nowadays for me.
ReplyDeleteAs regards your question, I really don't know if that is possible. Never heard of anyone transfer fund from his GTB savings acc to someone else's savings acc via his phone.
However, I will dig deeper as regards this and update you.
Thanks
Hi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteTo reach GTB HR, just dial 01-4480000 and ask to be transferred to the HR.
The real issue will be getting the guy to transfer you.
Anyway, Bonne chance!
Thanks for the guidance.
ReplyDeletegood bros for sharing such experience.

Do I need a token device to access GTBank internet banking service?
ReplyDeleteI have forgotten my user id for my Internet banking, what do I do?
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem of forgotten user id. I know it's got to do with the old account number but I don't remember my old account number either. Very frustrating!
